Winston the talkative cuddler
By Beth Braun, PAWS staff
He chose me so I couldn’t say no.
I had been searching for a cat pal for my cat Smokey, when Smokey passed away unexpectedly. During my search, I had visited PAWS Cat City but hadn’t made it out to the PAWS Lynnwood shelter, so I checked the website and found a few cats I wanted to visit.
As I was walking around the shelter cat room, one of the only cats who wasn’t meowing for attention was an 8-year-old orange tabby, snoozing in his cage. I learned that he had just come into the shelter and hadn’t had his vet check yet so he wasn’t available to take home, but I was able to take him into the visitor room.

I sat on the floor, he took a tour around the room then crawled into my lap and started purring. When I completed my adoption paperwork, I learned that he had been surrendered by his original family due to a family illness, and the second person to adopt him had passed away and the family returned him to PAWS. Since it was obvious that he chose me, I knew that I would be his fur-ever home.
