Harvey the Harvala
By Laura of Mill Creek
This is the day I met “Salt” at PAWS; he would barely even let me touch him.
He had just arrived at the shelter after spending days on the road in a crowded truck from Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. A skinny, mop-headed Terrier with huge brown eyes, he was clearly traumatized and in need of serious TLC. I decided to just sit down and wait while he nervously paced back and forth in the meet and greet area. It didn’t take long before Salt was in my lap and letting me gently pet him.

I knew right then that I would not leave without this little dog. Fast forward two years and Salt is now Harvey (I suspect the name of lots of dogs and cats rescued from Hurricane Harvey). I can’t imagine our family without this 12-lb. package of unconditional love and fierce loyalty brightening up our days and nights. Thank you PAWS for bringing me my “Harvala” and for all the other families who will experience the overwhelming joy of adopting a dog or cat who needs a home.
