Rudy the Olympian
By Cammie and Maurice T.
Rudy—named after Wilma Rudolph for her Olympic sprinting and jumping.
We are empty nesters and we needed something small and furry to cuddle, provide for, and play with. Rudy was our perfect match. It was love at first sight when we saw our little charcoal baby reaching through the kennel to touch us. Rudy has been adopted once and returned to PAWS after a month, and had only been there a day before we found the gray kitten we’d been looking for. It was kismet.

Our little Rudy is a climbing, jumping kitty. We get her “flying birdie” toys out daily and see how high she can jump and how long it takes before she’s so tuckered out that she opens her mouth and pants like an exercised dog. It didn’t take us long to realize that panting and a rapid heartbeat doesn’t mean she’s done playing. She’s ready to get up and do it again after a very quick rest.
She literally looks like she’s smiling ear to ear with her tongue hanging out when she pants…lol. We also take her on the stairs and porch in a pink kitten harness for daily walks. She sits in a front pack while I do my chores. Her little pink, capped nails and legs hang out like a baby. Yes, she’s spoiled. We think sometimes that she believes she’s a puppy.
